We aim to maintain a supportive business environment, offering local contacts, links to support organisations and details of funding initiatives to help our businesses develop.

Whether you are considering starting your own business, growing your business, or moving into South Ribble we can help.

Leaving the EU means businesses may need to prepare for change.

A number of resources have been created to help businesses and residents understand and prepare for the potential impacts of Brexit. Please see our EU Exit advice page for information.

Supporting Businesses in South Ribble

Support for businesses affected by flooding:

If your property is in immediate danger of flooding, please see the Council's flooding advice pages and the Flooding in Lancashire website for assistance.

Businesses, which were affected by flooding in December 2015 can apply for Flood Resilience Funding. The Property Level Resilience Grant (PLRG) provides financial support to eligible businesses impacted by the floods caused by Storm Eva. Grants of up to £5,000 (inclusive of VAT and survey fees) per property may be available to fund measures which improve a property’s resilience or resistance to damage from flooding, over and above repairs that would normally be covered by insurance. Please see the Council's Flood Help pages for further details.

For new businesses, we can offer advice on regulatory requirements such as Food Safety and Planning; we offer help to find premises and we can put you in touch with organisations who offer advice and funding options.

For growing businesses we can also supply contacts for business loans and other funding and we can help you connect to local networks and skills.

For new investors, we offer a single point of contact to help make it easy for you to access all the local support available.

Working with partner organisations, South Ribble Borough Council also offers support to help businesses find the staff they need for development. Businesses including Waitrose and Dr Oetker have already benefited from support from the Council, working with Jobcentre Plus and local colleges, for their new developments in the borough.
