The deal extends the 10-year relationship between Wincanton and the defence giant and includes goods management and inspection storage and packaging and transportation services at both Samlesbury and Warton. Wincanton will also become the operator of the new purpose-built Defence Logistics Centre scheduled for completion in 2016 becoming the first non-BAE Systems business at the Samlesbury Enterprise Zone. The move will generate 70 new jobs for the local area and help generate opportunities to create further advanced engineering roles in other businesses that are likely to be attracted to the Enterprise Zone.
